The number of addresses containing at least 1,000 bitcoins exceeded 2,000, reaching a maximum in a year. According to BitInfoCharts, there are now 2,190 such addresses.
The previous maximum was set on September 28, 2019 at 2,184. The total number of bitcoins on such addresses is 7,868,823, which corresponds to $92 billion.
According to analysts, this trend may indicate a desire for the accumulation of cryptocurrency among large investors.
At the same time, data from the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) futures market suggests that institutional short bitcoin volumes are currently at historic highs, reflecting bearish expectations in the short term. That being said, long positions attributed to retail traders are also setting new records.
