US-based mining company Core Scientific has become the only Bitmain joint service center in North America.
According to the press release, Core Scientific will provide repair and maintenance services for Bitmain ASIC miners in the region using original spare parts.
The establishment of a joint repair center is intended to reduce the downtime of equipment associated with sending it to China.
Core Scientific noted that over the past year, the mining industry in North America has shown a sharp increase. From September 2019 to April 2020, the bitcoin hash rate in the US increased by 78%, outstripping the growth rate of the long-term mining leader China.
He added that the service center will not only reduce the costs associated with sending equipment to Asia, but will also ensure the preservation of the warranty, thanks to the use of original spare parts in the repair. All work will be performed by engineers certified by the Chinese manufacturer’s Ant Training Academy.
With the creation of the service, Core Scientific has expanded its collaboration with Bitmain. The American company previously bought 18,000 Antminer miners and opened the first Ant Training Academy outside of China, the statement said.
Recall that Bitmain recently entered into agreements with US companies for the supply of large batches of miners. Marathon Patent Group will buy 10,500 Antminer S19 Pro units for $ 23 million, and Riot Blockchain – 13,100 similar installations for $ 28.7 million.
Bitmain has also expanded its partnership with Foundry, formerly a subsidiary of Barry Silbert’s Digital Currency Group, to fund equipment shipments to North America.
